candle safety
General Candle Safety and Care:
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- ALWAYS Allow candle to cool before touching, trimming wick or relighting.
- Keep burning candles away from children and pets.
- Do not place near flammable objects such as curtains, walls, etc.
- Place on a protected, heat resistant, level surface.
- Keep candle free of wick trimmings, matches, or other foreign matter that could be a fire hazard.
- Avoid burning in drafts.
- Avoid moving lit candles.
- Keep wick trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times to avoid carbon build up on the wick, dark smoking, and soot in the air and on walls or furniture.
- Do not allow candle to burn completely down to the bottom of container. Extinguish when there is about 1/2 inch remaining.
- Do not allow flame to touch sides of container.
- Remove all tags, bags, ribbons or decorative items from candle before lighting.
- Containers may become very hot. Please handle with care!
- Container candles & votive containers should be set on a heat resistant holder or trivet to protect surfaces from heat. Hot candle jars can damage furniture.
- All candles will produce some smoke and soot, but proper burning (keeping wick trimmed and avoiding drafts, etc.) will help eliminate this problem.
- The maximum recommended burn time is 1 hour per inch in diameter, after the first burn. Burning a candle beyond the recommended burn time can be dangerous.
